Ronald Lewis Chandler

Ronald Lewis Chandler, 32, Rt. 1, Salem, passed away Tuesday evening, July 25th at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, Md. where he had been a patient for seven weeks. He was born August 2, 1939 at Davenport, Iowa, the son of James Lewis and Tessie Van Winkle Chandler.

Graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958 and served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He was a member of the Big Mound Methodist Church. Ron Chandler was engaged in farming in Lee County with his brother, Bob.

He is survived by his parents, an identical twin brother, Robert Lee Chandler, all of Rt. 1, Salem, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Marion (Vera) Blevins and niece Heather Blevins, both of Bettendorf, Ia. Proceeding him in death was a brother, Michael, Maternal grandparents, Dr. Clyde O. and Della Bell Van Winkle, Rt. 1, Hillsboro; and paternal grandparents, Theodore Reed and Antonia Lawrence Chandler of Davenport.

Funeral services with Military rites were held from the Big Mound Methodist Church, Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E.R. Maus, pastor of the church officiating. With Mrs. Vinton Hoaglin, organist, Mrs. Robert Zane, soloist, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art."

The casket bearers were Victor Hanson, James Sanders, Richard Van Winkle and Gaylen Van Winkle.

Interment was in the Clay Grove Cemetery.

The family receive friends at the Beatty-Jennings Funeral Home in Salem, Friday evening and following the services.

Ron Chandler requested that a Memorial Fund be established to the Patient Emergency Fund, in care of Chief, Social Work Dept., Room 1-N-250 Clinical Center, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md. 20014. Memorials may be sent direct to this address in his name.
