Dale "Bud" Muntz Is Fatally Injured

Arlet Dale (Bud) Muntz, 48, of Mt. Sterling RR, was fatally injured while felling a tree Sunday. The accident happened at his farm eight miles west of Farmington at about noon.

Muntz reportedly stumbled and fell over some wood on the ground just as the tree toppled. The tree fell on him. He suffered a fractured skull.

His ten-year-old son Terry was with him when the accident happended and summoned help.

Muntz was taken to Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, where he died at 1:05 P.M. in the emergency room.

He married Dorothy F. Muntz, a resident of Bonaparte, on Dec. 21, 1946 at Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of this area.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by his father, Ellery Muntz of Farmington, his mother Mrs. Eleanor Loveless of Mount Sterling; a son, Terry Lee Muntz of Mt. Sterling; a daughter, Caroly Dale Linnenburger of Farmington; one brother, Larry Muntz of Honolulu, Hawaii; three sisters, Patty Bailey of Eldon, Barbara Wilson of Milton, and Betty Vonderhaar of Ft. Madison; and one grandson.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington. The Rev. Edward Maus officiated. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery.
