FARMINGTON - The service for Walter E. Courtney, 63, who died Wednesday, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church. Robert Anders will officiate, and burial will be in Greenglade Cemetery.

The body is at the Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home.

A lifelong resident of the Farmington area, he was born Nov. 1, 1907, at Acasto, Mo., the son of Noah and Clara Cross Courtney. He married Elizabeth Smith at Fort Madison on Nov. 26, 1950, at Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Burlington, and was a member of the Teamsters Union in Burlington.

Also surviving are one daughter, Linda at home; two stepchildren, Donald Smith and Mrs. Robert Vance, both of Farmington; two brothers, the Rev. Willard Courtney of Mediapolis, and Raymond Courtney of Fort Madison; one sister, Mrs. Wayne Drummond of Farmington and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
