Manly Pratt

Manly Pratt, 88, died Thursday afternoon, July 29, at his home in Batavia of an apparent heart attack.

Last rites were held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Batavia with the Rev. Wilson Hyde in charge. Burial was in the Batavia Cemetery.

Manly Pratt was born Sept. 15, 1882, at Stockport. He was the son of Porter and Adeline Johnson Pratt. He was reared and educated in the Stockport Community and was a resident of Van Buren County until he moved to Batavia 30 years ago. He farmed most of his life.

Pratt was married to Hazel Shampnoi Feb. 14, 1914, at Kirksville, Mo. She survives.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons, Richard "Mike", Lockridge; Bert and Porter, both of Batavia; three daughters, Mrs. Sam Dovico, Batavia; Mrs. Herbert Jacobson, Fremont, Neb.; and Mrs. Gerald Hocking, Hooper, Neb.

Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; three brothers, Worthy, Ira and Jim, all of Stockport.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers and one grandson.
