CLARENCE C. KINGSBURY

Clarence Cyrus Kingsbury, son of Cyrus H. and Mary Hanan Kingsbury was born April 21, 1915, in the Center Chapel community and departed this life Saturday, July 17, 1971, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 56.

On June 18, 1944, he was married to Estella Shipley, who remains to cherish his memory. Also remaining are two sons, Donald Dean of Phoenix, Arizona, and Gary Gene of Fairfield, daughters-in-law Cathy and Juanita, a granddaughter, Carey Lynn other relatives and many friends.

The Kingsburys farmed in the Center Chapel neighborhood until moving to Keosauqua in 1956, where he was employed at the Iowa-Missouri Seed Corn Co. At an early age Clarence united with the Center Chapel Methodist Church, and later transferred his membership to the Keosauqua United Methodist Church. He was an active member of the Chancel Choir of his Church, so long as his health permitted, and derived great personal satisfaction from serving his Master through the medium of music. He will be remembered as a faithful husband and father, who endeavored to do his best to do that which was good for his family, his church and his community.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 19, 1971, at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Ford, pastor officiating. Keith Gaston was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Herman Green at the organ. Pallbearers were Ray Fellows, and Maynard Phillips. Interment was in the Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
