OBITUARY

OTIS HANS BEGGS

Otis Hans Beggs, 79, of Keosauqua died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua where he had been a patient for about an hour. He had been in failing health for several years.

The son of Robert and Henrietta Wilson Beggs, he was born August 28, 1891 near Pittsburg, Iowa. he was a World War I veteran and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Keosauqua.

On April 17, 1926 he married Gladys Hervey at Keosauqua. He spent most of his life on a farm near Bonaparte.

Survivors are his widow; five brothers, Lea of Chapman, Kans., Harl of Birmingham, Craig of Bonaparte, Dwight of Hot Springs, Ark., Hazen of Ottumwa; a step-sister, Mrs. Lena Cochran of California; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ora and Virgie; two brothers, Duane and Creighton, a half-sister, Orpha; four half-brothers, Forest, Earl, Ernest and Hollis.

The body was taken to the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua. A memorial fund has been established.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in eKeosauqua(err), with Dr. Richard Boyer officiating. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Keosauqua.
