Tech. Sgt. Joseph Forrest Robert Simmons, age 38, of Little Rock Air Force Base in Little Rock, AR, passed away February 11, 2018, in Little Rock.

Joseph Simmons was born June 20, 1979, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Robert and Constance Lillard Simmons.

He graduated from Revere High School in 1997 and entered the service, and was active duty U.S. Air Force.

On August 15, 1997, he was united in marriage to Jill Neeley.

Survivors include his wife Jill; his mother Constance Simmons of Revere; mother-in-law, Brenda Neeley of Keosauqua; four children, Bryce (Lauren) Simmons of Ft. Stewart, GA, Taylor, Kayden and Jayce Simmons of Keosauqua, IA; grandson, Mason Raymundo; one brother, Jerry (Tami) Simmons of Donnellson, IA; sister, Katherine (Dr. Shawn) Griffin of Charlotte, NC; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jeremy (Pam) Neeley of Bonaparte, Josh (Emily) Neeley of Bonaparte, and Jeannie (Brad) Cochenour of Keosauqua; nieces and nephews: Justin, Aaron and Laura, Daniel, Jacob, and Jonathan Griffin Matthew, James, Luke and Abigail Simmons, Kory, Isabel, Anna, Clay, and Faith Neeley, and Tiffany and Jacklyn Cochenour; aunts and uncles: Phyllis Lillard of Kansas City, MO, Dorothy (Richard) Gumc of Bethel, MO, Doris (Duke) Henry of Cantril, Larry (Joyce) Simmons of Revere and Dodie Simmons of Kahoka; several great-aunts and uncles; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, James Robert Simmons; grandparents, Jerry and Mary Lillard and Forrest Simmons; father-in-law, Jack Neeley; an aunt, Margaret Lillard, and uncle, Gary Simmons.

Joe had served his country since 2000 and was currently stationed at Little Rock Air Force Base in Little Rock, AR. He loved being outdoors. Time spent fourwheeling, camping, hunting and fishing was very special to him. Family and extended family were very special to Joe and he loved being a "papa" to Mason.

Funeral services were held February 18, 2018, at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Mike Shea officiating. Jared McAfee was vocalist with special music "Amazing Grace" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.”

Pallbearers were Jamie Harmon, John Harmon, Jared McAfee, Clint Smith, Jeremy Neeley and Kory Neeley.

Burial and full military honors and details followed in the Anson Cemetery.
