On January 30, 1916, he was united in marriage to Mary Dorothy Sommers. They were privileged to spend 65 years together. To this union was born one son, Henry.

He spent his entire life on the farm. Farming, taking care of livestock and tilling the land was his one and greatest joy in work. When he retired, they lived until January 1 of this year in a home provided for them on their son's farm in Davis County, Iowa.

In the early 1920's they moved to the Milton community where they spent 50 years. He became a member of the Milton Methodist Church in 1923, and remained most active as long as his health permitted. Will was a member of the building committee of the present church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roy M. Allen, and one sister, Bertha Allen.

Surviving are his wife, Mary, a resident of Bloomfield Manor Nursing Home, one son, Henry and wife, June; five grandchildren, Barbara Ann Crawford of Memphis, Mo., Betty Lee Taylor of Bloomfield, Iowa, Capt. Henry Hugh Allen of Fort Gordon, Ga., Charles Self of Pulaski, Iowa, and Tina Self of Bloomfield, Iowa, and five great-grandchildren, Tracy and Tonya Crawford, Robbin and Rusty Taylor, and Kristina Allen. In addition to his family, he leaves a host of neighbors, friends and townspeople who mourn his passing.

Will was know by all as an honest, straight forward Christian man. His radiant smile and genuine friendliness will long be a memory of all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 26, 1981, at the United Methodist Church, Milton, Iowa, with Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the United Methodist Church in Milton, Iowa.
