Dorothy Saner

ELDON - Dorothy Saner, 80, of rural Eldon died of cancer at 1:20 a.m. Oct. 10, 1989, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, 1001 E. Pennsylvania.

She was born May 12, 1909, in Davis County to Andrew and Lena Mae McVey Herbert. She married Jack Saner on June 26, 1926, in Bloomfield. He died in 1962.

She was reared in Floris, living most of her life in the Eldon area. She was employed by the former Ottumwa Hotel, the Iowa ammunition plant at Middletown and Herrmann Gardens in Agency.

She is survived by six daughters, Helen "Arlene" Bonner of Estherville, Bertha Kern and Icel Fisk of Eldon, Nora Feagins of Fort Madison, Dora Sloan of New London and Shirley De Pue of Ottumwa; four sons, Everett of Des Moines, Donald of Douds, Ralph of Eldon and Howard of Allerton; 52 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dean of Savanna, Iowa, Dorian of Downing, Mo., and Harold of Branson, Mo.; and three sisters, Ola Padgett of Bloomfield, Lala Wheaton of Branson, Mo., and Neoma Calhoun of Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by three children, a brother and two sisters.

The service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. Neil Guy of First Christian Church in Ottumwa officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery in rural Eldon.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Thursday. Family visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
