Hillsboro rites Sunday for Barton

HILLSBORO- Funeral services for Earl Barton, 87, of Hillsboro, who died Friday morning at his home, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillsboro Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Buchanan will officiate. Burial will be Hillsboro Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Buchanan will officiate. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call as they desire after 1 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Barton was born Oct. 21, 1895 in the Round Prairie community, the son of Samuel and Ella Lee Barton. On March 2, 1921, he married Leah McDowell at Mt. Pleasant. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Gene of Hillsboro and Donald McDowell of Weaver; a daughter, Marilyn Hahn of Sigourney; a brother, the Rev. Dale Barton of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Susie McWilliams of Knoxville, Ill., Mary McElwee of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
