KEOSAUQUA - When Colleen Duke's grandmother Adina Marie Stigge of Des Moines County died Nov. 4 at the age of 105, she left 24 grandchildren 48 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Four generations were represented a her memorial service Nov. 7 at the Prairie Grove Peace Lutheran Church.

They enjoyed reminiscing about Grandma Stigge, who was born on Christmas Day, 1872, and each year would remark, "If I'm still here next Christmas.." She and her husband Fred farmed in the Prairie Grove area, and after his death 20 years ago, she made her home with various children until moving to at New London nursing home. Despite her advanced age, she was able to feed herself and enjoyed bingo and other games.

Mrs. Duke's father, Fred, Jr., 69, is the youngest of five living children and Inez Dietsch, 80, of Pleasant Grove, is the eldest.

On Christmas Day, 1972, when Mrs. Stigge turned 100, the clan gathered for a big birthday celebration centered around a large cake which actually held 100 candles.
