Elmer E. Hawbaker
WEST POINT - Elmer Ellsworth Hawbaker, 74, West Point, died unexpectedly at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at his home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1905, at Keosauqua, to Charles and Harriet Spray Hawbaker. He lived the past 40 years in the West Point area. He married Ann Marie Schroeder Oct. 15, 1928, at Ft. Madison.
He was at retired farmer and also was a janitor at the Ft. Madison Elks club, retiring from there in 1969. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, West Point.
Surviving: Wife; three sons, Bill, Albuquerque, N.M., Bob, Naperville, Ill., and Jim, Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Brad (Harriet) Baggarly, Upland, Calif., and Mrs. Jerry (Barbara) Pickard, Ft. Madison; 15 grandchildren; two brothers, W.L. Hawbaker, Burlington and Tom, Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. C.A. (Ethel) Warner, Stockport, and Mrs. Leland (Margaret) Thompson, Ft. Madison.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Mary Catholic church, West Point, Rev. Francis Lenoch; Calvary cemetery, West Point. A parish rosary will be recited a 7 p.m. Sunday at Barr Memorial chapel.
