CLARENCE CALHOUN
Clarence Calhoun, 51, of Bonaparte rural, died Thursday, Aug. 19 at 12:45 a.m. at Van Buren Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient three days. He had been ill two years.
He was born April 28, 1914, in Henry county, the son of Osie and Luella Gill Calhoun. He spent his childhood in Henry county. A farmer his entire adult life, he lived in Bonaparte the past eight years.
On Sept. 18, 1933, he married Anna Marie Brown.
Surviving are his wife; his father; four daughters, Mrs. Albert Anderson, Mrs. Edward Titus and Mrs. Robert Lyons, all of Burlington and Mrs. Charles Stansbury of Quincy, Ill.; three brothers, George and Avery of Mt. Pleasant and Paul of Fairfield; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Nickols of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Darrell Mitts, Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Kenneth Johnson, Rockford, Ill., and 13 grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 at Big Mound Methodist church near Farmington. Rev. Leroy Moore officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Plain cemetery near Mt. Pleasant.
