JOHN M. RANDOLPH

John Marion Randolph, 90, of Marshalltown, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Sept. 18 at the McCarty Nursing Home at Marshalltown.

Mr. Randolph, the son of Alva F. and Elizabeth Anne Korn Randolph, was born Sept. 26, 1874 in Appanoose County, near Moulton. At the age of 13 he moved with his parents to Davis County, east of Bloomfield, where he spent his boyhood.

On Nov. 25, 1903 he was united in marriage to Bessie Harper of Milton, where they spent their early married life together operating several large farms and later a garage in Milton. In 1918 they moved to Leon where he worked for the Standard Oil Co. and Akes Oil Co. In 1937 they moved to Marshalltown.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Florence Tyree of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Bill Randolph of Milton, Leonard Randolph of Strasburg, Penn., Paul H. Tyree of Maine and Barbara Randolph of New York City; also a sister, Mrs. T.C. Friend of Bloomfield; two brothers, Martin N. of Bloomfield and Alva P. of Ottumwa.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were an infant daughter, Cleo and two sons, Wray F. and Lawrence Everett.

He was a member of the Leon Methodist Church.

Services were conducted at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home Tuesday Sept. 21 at 10:00 a.m. with burial and graveside services in the Bloomfield cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Delahook, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Marsahlltown, in charge.
