JAY E. VEST

Jay E. Vest, 77, died Saturday noon, Nov. 5, 1966 at Henry County Memorial hospital in Mt. Pleasant. The family farm home is south of Lockridge.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist church, Mt. Pleasant. The Rev. Owen Wilson of the First Presbyterian church officiated. Burial was in Forest Home cemetery.

Vest was born Oct. 28, 1889 in Scotia County, Nebr., the son of John Riley and Mary J. Mason Vest. He attended State Teachers College and taught in several area schools, including Hillsboro, Salem and Lockridge.

Vest was married June 2, 1921 to Pearlie McKim, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Joy R. Vest, Keokuk; Mrs. Robert Peebler, Pella, and Mrs. Verling Nelson, Denver, Colo. Also surviving are four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Maude Paton, Stockport. One brother and one sister are deceased.

Vest was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Fairfield.
