Effie May Bale was born Dec. 7, 1881, and died January 12, 1916, being thirty four years, one month and five days old. She was the daughter of J.H. and Mary Bale, and her girlhood was spent in Kentucky. There she united with the Baptist Church, in which she retained her membership.
August 15, 1900 she was united in marriage with R.M. Davenport. Six and a half years ago they moved to Bonaparte and opened the Variety store. Mrs. Davenport helped to conduct the store, and with her husband won the respect and confidence of every one.
Mrs. Davenport was a loyal member of the Sunshine Society. She had a happy, cheerful disposition, thinking of others always. Her last illness was brief only four days from the time she began to feel badly until she was gone, the trouble being acute pneumonia.
She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, her parents, one sister and five brothers.
Her father and mother had come and were with her during her short illness. They, with Mr. Davenport, took the remains to Wyanet, Ill., and the funeral was held there Sunday.
