Mrs. Rose Pickerel was born near Fairfield, Jefferson Co. Iowa Jan 16, 1880, and died at her home in Birmingham June 14,1950 being 70 years, 4 months and 28 days.
She was the daughter of John Riley and Emma (Marion) Sirdoreus of Fairfield and one of a family of eight children, four of whom survive, Charles , Arthur and Eddie Sirdoreus and one sister Edna Heston, all of Fairfield. Two brothers, one sister , her father and mother, one grandson and her husband preceded her in death.
She was married April 27,1897 to William H. Pickerel of Batavia, who proceded her in death Oct. 28, 1936. To this union eight children were born, Jessie of Uak, Bertha Crafton, Birmingham, Mabel Dovenspike of Salem, Ia.,Randall and Lloyd at home, Meadia Faulkner of Bell Ca., Helen and Hazel Weaver of Birmingham; 19 grandchildren and 5 greart grandchildren mourn her passing.
She was a woman of beautiful character, sympathetic, loyal to her friends, with high ideas and noble purpose, and held in high esteem by all who knew her. Her death came unexpectedly although she had not been in the best of health.
Most of her married life has been spent in and near Birmingham and her passing comes as a shock to the children, relatives and friends, which feel sadly her loss.
She was a loving wife and mother, deeply devoted to her children, a kind neighbor and will be sadly missed from the home and neighborhood where she resided.
