MORTUARY RECORD
MAUD STOKES ARNOLD

Maud Lenore Stokes Arnold, daughter of Samuel and Kerelia Stokes, was born in Davis county, Iowa, Nov. 5, 1878, and died at her home near Keosauqua, Feb. 21, 1906, aged 27 years, 3 months and 16 days.

The subject of this sketch was married to J. H. Arnold Sept. 28, 1897, and to this union were born five children, two sons and three daughters; one infant daughter departing this life a few days prior to the death of the mother.

The deceased leaves to mourn her death a father and mother, one brother and three sisters, a husband and four children, young in years, also a host of friends who will miss her much. Her father and mother, brother and two sisters having recently left for Colorado, not knowing of Sister Arnold's illness, were not present with her in her last hours, it being impossible to locate them in time for their arrival at the funeral. One sister, Mrs. Alma Hubbart, was present at the time of her death and burial. During most of Mrs. Arnold's life she had lived in and near this locality. She united with the M. E. church of Bloomfield in the winter of 1895 and 1896. After her marriage she united with the Christian church at Keosauqua where she continued a faithful member.

The funeral services were held at Bethel M. E. church in charge of Elder Charles L. Wheeler assisted by Rev. [J?] W. Carson of the M. E. church. The remains were laid to rest in the Purdom cemetery, Keosauqua.

Sister Arnold was a kind and affectionate wife and mother, a true friend and neighbor and a faithful follower of Christ. Happy be her lot and sweet be her rest.
