Ray Standley

Ray Standley, 72, Mt. Pleasant, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 24, at Henry County Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 22, 1895, in Stockport he was the son of George and Nellie Stanley Standley. On Sept. 29, 1920, he married Daisy Barton. She died May 12, 1937. At Kirksville, Mo., on Aug. 10, 1940, he married Elizabeth Marie Long. A farmer by occupation, he was a member of the Round Prairie Baptist church and American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I in which he served in Company H, 349th Infantry, 88th Division.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Kenneth Standley, Wilmington, Del., Keith Standley, Sommerville, N.J.; three stepsons, Raymond Long, Winfield; Ralph Long, Ft. Madison; David Long, Mt. Pleasant; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul (Elizabeth) Sanders, Burlington; six grandchildren; one brother, Charles Standley, Kirksville, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Paul (Laura) Stark of Novelty, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, at Weir-Cookes Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, the Rev. Floyd Bradcher officiating. Burial in Lambert cemetery.
