Merle Slee
Merle (Dick) Slee, 68, Ft. Madison, died Friday, November 17, at 4 p.m. at his home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Slee was born Feb. 12, 1899, at Farmington, the son of Grant and Sadie Crown Slee. March 31, 1928, at Ft. Madison he married Millie E. Randolph. He was a retired painter, a member of the VFW and the painters local.
Surviving: His wife, three sons, Jack Slee of Quincy, Ill.; Jim, Winter Haven, Fla., and Jerry of Muscatine; three brothers, Byron Slee, Chicago, Forrest Slee, and William, both of Ft. Madison; five sisters, Mrs. E.B. Dodds, Stockport, Mrs. Don Wilkens, Donnellson, Mrs. Howard Hopp, Fargo, N.D., Mrs. Delmar Hooter, Ft. Madison; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services: Monday, 4 p.m. Clements Chapel, Ft. Madison, Rev. Fred Rowley of the Santa Fe Methodist church. Burial at Oakland cemetery in Soldiers Circle.
