Passenger Is Crash Victim

An elderly Silana, Ia. man died approximately 10 minutes after a car in which he was riding was struck broadside by another auto at the north edge of Brighton Friday night, June 3.

Dead is Ralph Roberts, 83, who according to an investigating officer walked around after the accident. Washington County Deputy Sheriff Robert Swift said Roberts had no visible injuries, but that after a short time he died.

Roberts was a passenger in a car driven by Mrs. Ruby Frances Giberson, 67, of Fairfield rural which was struck as it was driven out of a farm driveway. Mrs. Giberson died Sunday, June 5 in Washington County Hospital.

Mr. Roberts was the father of Mrs. R.A. Workman of Stockport and the step-father of Mrs. E.O. Teeter Sr. of Bonaparte.

Services were held Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home at Fairfield.
