JOHN F. RENO

John F. Reno, 54, of Ottumwa, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at St. Joseph hospital after an illness of several months.

The son of J.B. and Jennie Garber Reno, he was born in Wapello County Feb. 15, 1909. He had been a resident of Ottumwa 28 years, and served as a star route mail carrier there the past three years.

He married Mary Stam, April 22, 1935 in Ottumwa. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League there.

Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Jennelee Reno, at home; a son, Thomas W. Reno, with the U.S. Navy at Atlantic Beach, Fla.; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Bolwar, Floris; two brothers, Sherman E. and J.B. Reno, jr., both of Bloomfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Teresa Grant, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Esther L. Smith, Floris.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1950 and by a brother, Ronald Reno.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Johnson Funeral home in Ottumwa, with the Rev. S.M. Abel of the First church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Lawn cemetery.
