Mrs. Lillie Moss

Lillie Pearl Moss, daughter of John and Lucia Elder Shepherd, was born July 29, 1875, near Drakesville, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Keosauqua, Iowa, Jan. 18, 1964 at the age of 88.

She was married to William H. Moss on Oct. 1, 1897, in Ottumwa.

Her husband preceded her in death April 15, 1940. She was also preceded in death by a son Clare in 1918, another son in infancy, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Remaining to mourn her passing are two daughters, Mrs. Alma Collins of Keosauqua and Mrs. Halfa Burkhalter of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; one step-grandson, and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, W.C. Shepherd of Drakesville and Irvin Shepherd of Ottumwa; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Sample of Bloomfield and Mrs. Florence Hawkins of Ottumwa; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Moss was a member of the Davis Street Christian Church in Ottumwa.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20, 1964 at 1 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Jack Armstrong, pastor of the Keosauqua Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Davison Bachman and Mrs. Walter Davison were vocalists, accompanied by Mrs. Max Caves. Nephews served as pall bearers. Interment was in the Breeding Cemetery north of Drakesville.
