Joseph S. Knoll

Joseph S. Knoll, 88, a resident of the Manning Hotel, Keosauqua, died Monday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient 10 days.

He was born Feb. 7, 1879 in Menominee, Ill., the son of William and Helen Remkee Knoll.

In January of 1912 in Missouri he married Edna Berry.

A retired farmer, Mr. Knoll was a lifelong resident of Iowa. He spent most of his life around Keosauqua, also lived near Bonaparte and Farmington.

He is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Paul (Helen) Hammer of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Robert (Fern) Wilson of Farmington, Mrs. Arnold (Virginia) Silvey, Ava, Mo., Mrs. Leroy (Mary) Jump of St. Paula, Calif; two foster daughters, Mrs. Roy Ogle of Fresno, Calif. and Mrs. Ira Earles of Tulare, Calif.; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by our sisters and three brothers.

The funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Miller's Home for Funerals, Farmington, with the Rev. Denley Ganfield officiating. Burial will be in Greenglade cemetery, Farmington.
