Mrs. Delpha May Lasley Gooden, 62, died Friday, Jan. 17, at 7:15 a.m. at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, where she had been a patient 10 days. She had been in failing health several months.
Born June 3, 1900, in Schuyler County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Austin and Amanda Zaeer Lasley. When a child she moved to Kansas with her parents in a covered wagon, later returning to Missouri.
She lived for a time on a farm three miles south of Stiles and moved to South Prairie Street in Moravia 45 years ago.
She was married in September, 1916, to Earl Gooden, who survives.
Besides her widower, survivors include four sons, Kenneth, Estle and Robert, all of Milton and LaVerne of Ottumwa; her mother, Mrs. Amanda Lasley of Nevada, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Emmons of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; two brothers, Homer and Ervin Lasley, both of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, one sister, and one brother.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Milton Christian Church with Ray Pierson, former pastor of the church, and Lowell Paulson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
