Kenneth M. Dodds

Kenneth Morrison Dodds, 58, of Ft. Smith, Ark., son of Harry J. and Minnie Morrison Dodds, was born Feb. 4, 1910 in Harrisburg Twp., Van Buren County, Iowa, He passed away Saturday, July 27, 1968 at the San Diego Naval Hospital, in California. He had been ill for about a year and a half.

He was a member of the Harrisburg Baptist church and attended Bonaparte High School.

He retired in 1959 after 31 years service in the Navy. He continued his education and became a well known instructor and professor in industrial arts at the State College in Ft. Smith, Ark., until illness forced his retirement in the fall of 1967.

Survivors are his mother, Mrs. H.J. (Minnie) Dodds, Bonaparte, and the following. In 1934 he married Ruby V. Crocker. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Billy (Dottie) Kerr, Jr. of Bonaparte, Miss Jeannie Dodds of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Ed (Kathy) Benicki of El Monte, Calif.

In 1951 he married Irene L. Vernac in Honolulu, Hawaii. To this union was born a son, Kenneth Charles. Other survivors include a step-daughter, Mrs. Jim (Charlene) Perry of Imperial Beach, Calif. with whom he had been living while undergoing treatment in California; six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Sally) Mosier of Kearney, Nebr. and Mrs. Francis (Elnore) Starr of Clinton, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father.

Full military services were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 31 in the Little Chapel of Roses at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Chula Vista, Calif., with burial in the Park.
