RUTH R. CLAXTON

Ruth Reeve Claxton, formerly of Keosauqua, passed away February 22 at Friendship Village Retirement Home in Waterloo, Ia. Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa where the Claxtons had resided until November of last year.

Mrs. Claxton was the daughter of Reverend and Mrs. H.H. Barton was born in New Hampton, Iowa on December 11, 1896. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as District Instructor and Grand Chaplain for the State of Iowa. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church at Fayette. For eight years, she served as housemother for Alpha Chi Rho fraternity at Iowa State College.

Survivors are her husband, Forrest B. Claxton; a stepson, F.B. Claxton Jr. of Dallas, Texas; a sons-in-law and daughter, Colonel and Mrs. Paul A. Jones of Montgomery, Alabama; a sister, Mrs. Frank Hunt of Shell Rock, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. D.B. Reeve of Brunswick, Ga. Also surviving are six grandchildren.
