Stace Klopfensteing

BURLINGTON - Stace Edward Klopfenstein, 78, of Burlington, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Trevor Davis officiating. Burial, with military rites accorded by VFW posts 10102 and 9162, the American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League, will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Visitation will continue through 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends following a 6 p.m. Moose Rites service. Memorials have been established for the Grace United Methodist Church and Crossroads Hospice of Henry County.

Mr. Klopfenstein was born March 31, 1923, in New London, to David and Elsie (Ballard) Klopfenstein. He married Helen Louise Jordan, March 30, 1947, in Winfield.

Mr. Klopenstein graduated from Mt. Pleasant High school in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for State Board and Mortgage as a securities salesman, Life Investments in Cedar Rapids and Integrated Resource Equity Co. as a securities broker and Multi Finance as an investment counselor. He retired from Benner Tea Co. as grocery manager after 20 years of service.

Mr. Klopfenstein was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 579, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeire No. 150, VFW Post 10102, American Legion Post 52, Elks Club of Muscatine, National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Toastmasters No. 1340, and the Cotillion Club. He was an avid ballroom dancer.

Mr. Klopfenstein is survived by his wife, Helen, of Burlington; three daughters, Joan Robertson and husband Tom of Burlington, Linda Marston and husband Gary of West Burlington, and Janet John of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, June Klopfenstein of Mt. Pleasant and Wanda White and husband Warren of Avon, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Wayne; and one sister, Verlee Ryan.
