Deryl "Doug" "Mack" McDowell age 66, of Fairfield, IA, passed away April 21, 2017, at his home.

Funeral mass was April 26, 2017, at SS Joseph and Cabrini Catholic Church, East Pleasant Plain with Reverend Nick Adam officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery, East Pleasant Plain, IA.

Doug was born February 13, 1951, to Deryl and Elsie (Thornburg) McDowell in Fairfield, IA. He married Amy Doyle January 4, 1980.

Doug graduated from Fairfield High School in 1969. He started working with his father at the age of five at Mack's Body Shop and later owned and operated it from 1956 [sic]-1995. In 1995 he started driving a truck, the last 15 years was for Wal-Mart.

His pastimes included fishing, riding and collecting motorcycles and cars. Most important was spending time with "family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Amy of Fairfield, IA; children, Jason (Amber) Craun and Jodi Bonnett, both of Fairfield, IA, and Justin (Jessica) Craun of Brighton, IA; seven grandchildren, siblings, Red McDowell of Ottumwa, IA, Patricia Coffin of Keosauqua, IA, and Randy McDowell of Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Wilda Nelson.
