Mildred Lydia (Neu) Jeffers, 91, of Red Oak, TX, formerly of Farmington, IA, passed away February 2, 2017, at Baylor Medical Center, Dallas, TX.

Born October 30, 1925, in Farmington, IA, the daughter of George and Lydia Neu. On July 23, 1960, she married Merlyn "Pete' Jeffers.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary (John) Young of Red Oak, TX, one son, Jon (Pam Christy) Jeffers of Farmington, IA, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lydia, husband Merlyn, two siblings in infancy, two brothers, Robert Neu and Herbert Neu, and three sisters, Viola Proenneke, Verna Henderson and Freda Hoaglin.

Mary graduated from Farmington High School. She was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church all her life and a member of Chapter O, P.E.O. Since 1949. She was employed at Farmington Co-Operative Creamery for 19 years, following that she assisted her husband with his milk route business for 20 years and then worked part-time at local insurance businesses for 20 years.

According to her wishes her body has been cremated.

Friends may call and meet with the family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington, IA. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with Pastor Peg Ellingson officiating.

Burial will be at Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

The Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington is assisting the family with the arrangements.
