George Wolfe

George Wolfe, 80, of Cantril, retired farmer, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil Hamberg in Cantril.

He had been in ill health a number of years, and seriously ill three months.

He was born Feb. 10, 1880, on a farm in Home Prairie community near Cantril. He was a son of John and Mary Hayes Wolfe. He married Valara Zoe Mankin of near Mt. Sterling July, 1898. She died in 1918.

He was a member of the Christian church.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Hamberg, Mrs. Opal Stevenson of Keosauqua and Miss Helen Wolfe of Cantril, and a son Leroy Wolfe of Winona, Minn. There are also two sisters, Mrs. Anna Parsons of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Marie Wilson of St. Louis; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Sterling Methodist church. Elder H.C. Shaw of Cantril was in charge. Burial was in Harness cemetery at Mt. Sterling.
