William Shubert

Funeral services for William Johnson Shubert, 78, were held Saturday, Dec. 21 at the Wellborn Funeral Home, Milton, conducted by Rev. Richard M. Carpenter of the Keosauqua Congregational church. Burial was in the Sunnyside Cemetery.

He died Dec. 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital after an illness of three years.

All of his early life was spent in Edina, Mo., moving to Milton in 1920. He was married May 25, 1923, to Gertie Abernathy, who died Feb. 16, 1960.

He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
