Mrs. Jennie Douglas

Jennie Miller Douglas, daughter of Simeon and Sarah Miller, was born at Cantril, Iowa, March 31, 1781(typo?), and died at Burlington, May 29, 1959. She had been ill for two years.

On Nov. 17, 1904, she was married to Delarma D. Douglas, who preceded her in death in 1915.

Mrs. Douglas has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Grace) Burk, of near Ft. Madison, for many years. She was a member of the Cantril Methodist church.

She is survived by three sons, Basil C. Coop, Burlingame, Calif., and Marion and Vivian Douglas, Ft. Madison; one daughter, Mrs. Stephen Burk, Ft. Madison; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Alice Cripe, Hermosa Beach, Calif., Mrs. Grace Rude, Cantril, and Mrs. Anna Stewart, Douds. Also one granddaughter, Lois Jean Burk, Ft. Madison.

Memorial services were held at the Barr Memorial Chapel in Fort Madison, June 2nd, at 2 p.m. Elder Herbert C. Shaw, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Robert Galitz, of Denmark. Burial was in the West Point cemetery.
