---Died at his home in [cut-off could be Pain or Park] township, Sedgwick county, Kansas, February 8, 1904, in his 70th year, William M. Burns, of Bright's disease. He was born in or near Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, May 11, 1834, and with his parents came west in the early spring of 1837, to Farmington, Van Buren county, Iowa. Here they lived for two years when they removed to the old homestead six miles west and north of Farmington on Vernon Prairie. In April, 1852, William, in company with his two elder brothers, crossed the western plains to California. Returning to Iowa in 1864, he remained here until 1871, when he removed to Butler county, Kansas. Two years later he removed to Sedgwick county where he made his final home and where he died. He leaves a wife, an adopted son, one sister and two brothers to mourn their loss. One of the brothers is John W. Burns, of Keosauqua, who was present at the funeral.
