MRS. FRANK THEWS

Katherine Maikowski Thews, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Maikowski, was born in Province Pasin, Germany, Oct. 14, 1860. She was baptized in Germany in infancy. On Nov. 1, 1886, she was married to Frank Thews. They arrived in Primrose, Iowa, from Germany on March 14, 1888, in which vicinity she spent the rest of her days. She passed away at her home Jan. 24, 1933, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 10 days. To the above union, five children were born, one daughter, Mary Anne, and two brothers preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Theressa Thews of San Francisco; three sons, Otto of Keokuk, Theodore of Ft. Madison and Albert of Pendleton, Ore., and six grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister in Germany, and one sister in Valeo, Calif.

Until recent years she was a regular attendant of the Evangelical church of Primrose and was for several years a member and attendant of the Ladies Aid. She was a good mother and loyal wife. She will be sadly missed by her relatives, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church at Primrose on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 26, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. O. Martensen. The body was laid to rest in the Evangelical cemetery south of Primrose.
