A Ripe Old Age

Another pioneer has gone hence. At 3:30 o'clock yesterday morning Mrs. Marilla Newton Mack died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John L. Therme, 1007 Blondeau street. Her home was in Farmington and she was here on a visit. Death resulted from the infirmities of old age. She was a (native) of New York, being born December 11, 1809. In her girlhood her father moved to Ohio, and at Goshen she was married to the late Dr. Mack in(1827). They came to Iowa in early day first stopping at Muscatine and later removed to Burlington and then to Farmington, which place has been her home since (18??). Her husband died in 1886 at the age of ?? years. Since then she has been living with her children, of whom ?? survive: L.M. and M.S. Mack, of Farmington; (Fayerite) Mack, Mrs. eight Therme and Mrs. (G???) ??? of Des Moines; Mrs. T.J. Nash of Ottumwa; Mrs. Clara Clapp of Plattsburg, Mo., and Mrs. Therme of this city. The remains were taken to Farmington for interment. - Gate City.
