Bertha Belle (Cochenour) McBride, 95, of Farmington, IA, passed away January 6, 2017, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka, MO.

Bertha was born April 28, 1921. She was the daughter of Earl and Florea (Hopp) Cochenour. She was united in marriage on January 11, 1941, in Memphis, MO, to Clair A. McBride. They were the parents of three children: Clair B. McBride, Betty Jean “Jeannie” DeWitt and Nancie Holmes.

Bertha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmington, IA. She was employed at Moores Business Forms in Kahoka for a number of years. Bertha lived most of her life in Clark County, MO, working on the farm helping her parents and later her husband after their marriage. After retirement they moved to Farmington, IA. She was very gifted with skills in crochet, embroidery and sewing, making many gifts for her loved ones over the years. Bertha's love for cooking was evident at family gatherings where her homemade breads and pies were served. Her love for her husband of almost 55 years and her family was shown by all the family pictures and her smiles when she talked about them. She enjoyed camping with her family at Western Illinois Old Threshers and Mt. Pleasant Old Threshers during the annual antique tractor shows.

Bertha, or "Bertie' as many called her in her later years, is survived by her son, Clair B. (Marlene) McBride of Farmington, IA, and daughter, Nancie Holmes of Kahoka, MO, 11 grandchildren, Shelia (Chris) Bell, Joe McBride of Farmington, IA, Teresa (Jim) Norton, Michael (Kari) Bevans, John (Melissa) Bevans, Curtis (Marlena) Mack, all of Kahoka, MO, Ronnotta (Dan) McCormick, Ronna (Alan) Mayberry, Regina Waddle, all of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ronald (Belinda) DeWitt of Solon, IA, Aleta Florea of Hamilton, IL; 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Earl Wayne (Betty) Cochenour of Luray, MO, son-in-law, Ronald DeWitt of Mt. Pleasant, IA, as well as nieces, nephews, friends and her Clark County Nursing Home family.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Clair A. McBride, her daughter; Betty (Jeannie) DeWitt, son-in-law, Larry Holmes, two granddaughters, Terri Beth Holmes and Megan Florea in infancy, one great-greatgrandson, Kylar Campbell in infancy, three sisters, Eva Shaffer, Doris Hines and Barbara Claouser; two brothers, Sherman Robert Cochenour and Gary Franklin Cochenour.

She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.

Funeral services were held January 9, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Farmington, IA, with Pastor Chad Welch officiating.

Burial was at Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, IA.

The Schmitz Funeral Home in Farmington assisted the family with the arrangements.
