JOHN CHANEY

John Chaney was born in Noble county, Ohio, February 14, 1857, and was the youngest of a family of nine children, all of whom have preceded him in death.

He came with his parents, Robert and Ann Gray Chaney, by Jefferson county, Iowa, when an infant. He was united in marriage to Adah Bennett, July 21, 1889. To this union were born two daughter, Mrs. George Carter of Stockport, and Mrs. Earl Cecil of Milton. He leaves besides these, one granddaughter, Margery Cecil and several nephew and nieces and hosts of neighbors and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Caney(Chaney) resided in the vicinity of Bonaparte until February of this year when they came to Milton to reside to be near their daughter. About two weeks ago he was taken to the hospital at Iowa City in hopes that skilled physicians could prolong his life, but to no avail. He passed away May 30, 1929, aged 72 years, 3 months and 16 days, surrounded by loving wife and children.

Mr. Chaney was a kind and indulgent husband and father and a neighbor who was loved and esteemed by all who knew him.
