MRS. RAY M. SAWDON

Bessie Ellen, daughter of Karl and Ellen C. Horstman, was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, Jan. 21, 1895; and departed this life on March 6, 1926, aged 31 years, 1 month and 18 days.

She grew to womanhood on the farm on which she was born and was united to Ray M. Sawdon in the holy bonds of matrimony on Dec. 9, 1914.

To this union two children were born, Emma Rae and Stanley; Emma Rae having died in infancy.

Ellen C. Horstman; two uncles, W.H. and C. W. Fletcher, with a number of her old school mates and many friends are left to mourn their loss. Her father, Karl Horstman, died on July 19, 1920.

She, with her husband and son, removed to Ft. Madison in February of 1923, in which city they have since resided.

Bessie was a very modest and unassuming young lady, a kind and loving wife and mother and one whom her acquaintances loved to call friend.

The last six months of her life, due to a complication of ailments, caused her intense suffering which she bore with fortitude and patience and she will be sadly missed in the home which she has left. During her last illness all was done that possibly could be done by loving hands and medical attention.

Although she was not a member of any church she was a firm believer in the Savior and the home above.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist church in Bonaparte, Rev. Droz officiating. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
