Harry S. Bagby
BRIGHTON - Harry S. Bagby, 78, died Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Washington, Iowa, County Hospital, where he had been 2 1/2 weeks.
He was born Aug. 18, 1896, near Cantril to James O. and Mary Warning Bagby. He married Gladys B. Jenkins Aug. 3, 1918, at Ottumwa.
A farmer, he later was custodian of the Brighton schools for 18 years, retiring in 1962. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy Bagby of Davenport; one sister, Mrs. Laurence Keller of Fairfield; and five brothers, Verne of Birmingham, Tom, Frank and Lawrence, all of Fairfield, and Chester of Stockport. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother.
The service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, with the Rev. S. Ray Blair and the Rev. Dave Higdon officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
