MT. STERLING.
-----------
DEATH OF MRS. CHAS. A. BOWMAN--LIVELY BUSINESS
-----------
Our town was overrun during the high water with customers coming from other places on account of high water. Parties from near Keosauqua came for supplies of provisions and got lumber at our yard with which to make a boat to rescue a valuable hog which was rescued in a hay mow. Fox river did not reach its past high water mark...The funeral of Mrs. C. A. Bowman occurred at the late residence at 1 o'clock Tuesday. Mrs. Bowman died Monday morning having been sick for several months. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Paul Wright. Interment was in the Harness cemetery east of town. Besides the friends and neighbors there were present a brother and sister of the deceased from Farmington, W. H. Bowman of Keokuk, Mrs. French and Mrs. Lapsley of Farmington sisters of Mr. Bowman.
