Obituary of Mrs. Mary Veatch

Mrs. Mary Huff Veatch was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, on July 18th, 1835, and died at Solomon, Kansas, on Aug. 26th, 1922, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 8 days. She was the daughter of Enos and Sarah Huff and came to Iowa with her parents in the spring of 1840, settling on a farm in Van Buren county and had made her home in that county all her life with the exception of a short time which she spent with her brother William at Solomon, Kansas. She was converted in the year 1850 under John Jay and united with the Methodist church and was a most faithful member until her death. She leaves to mourn their loss one brother, W.E. Huff, who lives at Solomon, Kan., and a host of other relatives. She was married about 1870 to Samuel Veatch, who preceded her to the beyond a number of years ago. A short service was held at the home of her brother, conducted by Rev. Rock, after which her remains were taken to her old home for interment. Services were held at Stockport M.E. church on Tuesday morning, August 29, being conducted by Rev. A.L. Jordan, her former pastor, and interment was had in Spencer cemetery beside her husband.
