THE SILENT REAPER.

ANNA THORPE BOIES was born at Kinsley, Kans., Nov. 3d, 1883, and died at Birmingham, March 3d, 1905 aged 21 years 4 months.

While the bright sunlight was at its noonday glory, and all nature seemed to awaken from the lethargy of winter, the spirit of Anna passed peacefully away.

To all who knew this gentle, loving girl the news of her sudden death came with sorrow.

In her home she was the one to whom the family were so deeply attached - an ideal daughter in every particular, a kind and loving sister, the sunshine of the home.

Her life since coming here 11 years ago has been a life lived so consistently and her beautiful christian character will ever be a sweet memory to the young friends with whom she associated daily. Anna was a favorite in the neighborhood in which she lived and all gave her the little kindly attention which due in her state of health desired - flowers, fruit and dainties, which she appreciated so much, were sent her daily. No young life has gone out in our midst in years where so much genuine sorrow has been shown. To know Anna was to love her, and her life ending as she stood at the threshold of life, has not been lived in vain. With father, mother, brother and sister doing all that loving care and thoughtfulness would suggest, and numerous friends standing by, the gentle spirit took its flight.

Her's was a cheerful, buoyant disposition. Although suffering at times yet she tried to dispel all gloom, and being unable to use her left hand for three weeks previous to her death, with her right hand she wrote a loving letter to a dear friend.

If she suffered she bore it with a patience rarely seen in one so young. Her answer, "Oh! yes, mama," to the question her devoted mother asked shortly before the end if Jesus was with her and if she would trust him will ever be a solace and comfort.

She had been an active member of the M.E. church for a number of years and although not having a strong constitution she was always willing to discharge every duty to Sunday school, church and league.
