Death of Mrs. C.W. Sheperd.

Sarah M. Baer was born in Ohio, July 12, 1842 and came to Van Buren county with her parents, when 3 months old, moving 2 years later to Davis county where she lived until married to Rev. C.W. Shepherd May 28, 1874. One daughter, Olive, was born to them, who always lived with her mother and cared for her during her sickness and death. Her husband died May 31, 1898, while he was treasurer of Van Buren county. Her death was the result of cancer and heart affliction. She died early in the morning of April 11, 1920, aged 77 years, 8 months and 28 days. She was a good woman and will be greatly missed by her neighbors and friends in Keosauqua, where she resided for 21 years. At this writing it is thought the funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday of this week, dependent on the arrival of her two stepsons of Masachusetts(sp) and Connecticut and a niece whose home is in South Dakota. Burial will be at Oak Lawn cemetery. Services will be in charge of Rev. Caughlan of the Keosauqua M.E. Church.
