Robert J. Barker

KEOSAUQUA. - Robert James Barker, 84, died at 1:45 a.m. today at Memorial hospital, where he had been a patient seven weeks.

A life-long resident of Van Buren county, he lived on a farm three miles south of Keosauqua. He was a member of the Keosauqua Methodist church.

The son of James and Jane Barker, he was born near Mt. Zion February 7, 1876. He was married in April of 1897 to Ethel Peal, who died in 1930. On June 10, 1938, he was married to Blanch Hackard, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Barker of Keosauqua and Dale Barker of Fairfield; a daughter, Mrs. Stanley Davis of Clinton; a stepson, L.M. Harbin of Galena, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. John Loosborro of Pomona, Calif.; two brothers John Barker of Centralia, Mo., and Joseph Barker of Keosauqua, and three grandchildren.

A daughter, Mildred, died in 1919. A brother and two sisters also preceded him in death.

The body is at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home. The service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Keosauqua Methodist church, with the Rev. E.S. Tschetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery north of Keosauqua.
