Mrs. Elizabeth F. Barker.

Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Elizabeth Franklin Barker were conducted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Dunlap at 2:30 Monday afternoon by Rev. Nethercut, pastor of the M.E. church, assisted by Rev. Dobson, the Nazarene minister. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Mrs. Barker passed away at her home about noon Saturday from a lingering illness which covered many months. She was patient and resigned through the years of her affliction, her countenance always peaceful. One of Bloomfield's best woman was passed into the beyond.

Sarah Elizabeth Franklin, daughter of John and Mary Franklin, was born in Farmington, Ill., December 17, 1848, and died at her home in Bloomfield, Iowa, April 21, aged 74 years, 4 months and 4 days. She came with her parents to Bentonsport, Iowa, in 1861. She was married to John S. Barker, Jan. 21, 1880, after which they moved to their farm 2 miles east of Bloomfield where they resided until 16 years ago when they moved to Bloomfield which has since been their home.

Mr. Barker passed to his reward three years ago last January. To them were born two children, Mrs. Kate Barker Dunlap and Seth S. Barker, of Bloomfield. She also leaves two stepsons Harvey M. Barker of Tuxford, Canada, and Col. J.A. Barker of Hot Springs, S. Dak., one son-in-law, W.T. Dunlap and one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Seth Barker. These loved and were loved the same as if they were her own children. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Whitcanack of Bentonsport, Iowa, and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Barker joined the Presbyterian church when 17 years old and transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal church a few years ago. She was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother and a sincere christian woman. After several years of intense physical suffering, which she bore with christian fortitude, the worn and broken tenement of clay crumbled and the liberated soul went home to be with the God whom she so much loved.
