C.L. HOSETTE

C.L. Hosette, so well known as Louie, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Xavier Hosette, born in Cedar township Nov. 22, 1874, where his home was until 23 years ago when he purchased a farm near Stockport, where his family home has been.

He was united in marriage to Mary Droz and together they established a home and lived a happy wedded life, until the grim monster "Death" claimed the husband and father. He had been in failing health for several months. Medical skill seemed unable to cope with his disease. August 4th he was taken to St. Joseph hospital in Ottumwa where it was discovered that a speedy appendicitis operation was necessary, from which he rallied and the following day remarked that he felt better than he had for a long time. All were encouraged but alas! that dread disease peritonitis was making fast inroads in his already weak constitution. Nine days he lingered, all still hopeful that he might yet be restored to health. But it was not to be, and on Saturday evening, August 12, at 10 o'clock he so quietly and peacefully closed his eyes on earthly scenes, and went to be with his loved Master. His family had never long left his side at the hospital.

He was ever patient and hopeful,

In the death of Mr. Hosette his numerous friends and neighbors feel that they have lost a true friend and an exemplary citizen, one who was ever ready to help in the hour of need. The happiness of his family was uppermost in his mind, and as we heard one neighbor remark, "Well, there never was a more indulgent husband and father to his family than Louie Hosette." He was always honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellow men. And he bore the respect of all his friends for they were legion as cold be attested by the large concourse of people that were present at the last services.

He leaves to mourn besides his loved companion six children, Bertha of Ft. Madison, Bernard of Ottumwa, Louise Workman of Stockport, Vern, Rollin and Josephine at home. Why should loved one mourn, for he is at rest.
