JOSEPH J. DOWNARD

Joseph J. Downard, 82, died at 7:15 p.m. Saturday n his home at 505 South Fourth street in Fairfield, where he had three heart attacks during the day.

He was born in Stockport, Nov. 9, 1869, the son of Ephriam and Margaret Payne Downard. He was married in Hillsboro Nov. 10, 1897, to Ingaba Morris, who survives. They lived in the Stockport community many years. He was a farmer and was the first rural mail carrier of the Stockport post office. They moved to Fairfield in 1919.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, Bruce of San Leandro, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Snider of Fairfield and Mrs. Joanne Helsabeck of Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mellen and Miss Elizabeth Downard, both of Stockport; a brother, Charles, of Van Wert; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Stockport Methodist church, where funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Swearingen officiating. Burial was in Spencer cemetery near Stockport.
