MRS. IDA GARDNER

Mrs. Ida Gardner died Thursday night at her home a mile and a half east of Selma, following several months illness. She had been confined to her room since last August.

She was born Oct. 26, 1856, and was united in marriage with Thomas Gardner, Dec. 24, 1875, and as a bride went to the farm home where she has lived continuously all her married life.

Her husband preceded her in death in May, 1919, also four children, Nellie, Bertha and Frankie, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Harriette Bailey, who died in June, 1919.

Surviving are two sons, Dale R. Gardner, with whom she made her home, and Charles Gardner, also of near Selma; two daughters, Mrs. Dora Miller of Douds, and Mrs. Helen Reardon of Ottumwa; and 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Four grandsons are now serving in the armed forces. One grandson was killed in action in France in August, 1944.

Funeral services were held at Selma Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Parrott with interment in Mt. Moriah cemetery three miles east of Selma.
