Mary Addie Sutton Schmidt

In the hush of early morning,
Just before the break of day,
As we watched there at her side,
Our dear loved one passed away.

Many years she’s made us happy;
Many times she eased our pain;
But her hands are folded now,
Never to be used again.

Till at last at the great day,
When our Savior comes to reign,
He will call her from the grave
To be with us once again.

For some years deceased has been failing in health, but it was not until early last spring that her earthly life began a gradual and sure decline. She bore her sufferings with great fortitude and patience.

Mrs. Addie Schmidt was born in Davis county, Iowa, Sept. 19, 1868, and died at her home two miles north of Bonaparte Thursday morning at five o’clock January 20, 1910, making her age 41 years, four months and one day.

From Davis county she with her parents moved to Nevada, Mo., where they lived but a few years when both her parents died leaving her an orphan at the tender age of six years. She then came to Primrose to make her home with her grandparents till she bloomed to young womanhood.

On March 28, 1889 she was married to Wm. Schmidt of Bonaparte at which place they have lived till death’s angel called her to her home above.

This marriage union was blessed with two children, one daughter, Ruby E. who preceeded her mother to the Hereafter, and one son, D. F.

She leaves to mourn, a kind husband, an affectionate son and one brother, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Addie was loved by all who know her, she lived a good and useful life and a character above reproach, kind in spirit and affectionate in disposition. She had always a pleasant word for every acquaintance. She was an assiduous student of the Bible and a faithful member of the Presbyterian church.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Druse Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the Pres. church. Interment was made in the Bonaparte cemetery.
